![]() I would have appreciated more of an effort and ownership of what happened rather than excuses and justification Well the breed is known for a high pain tolerance. They did ask repeatedly if I had to go to a vet and mentioned she didn't appear hurt. I wanted to see the video so we could work with a trainer to improve my girls new behavior challenges. I was sent a 15 minute clip and told the video couldn't be sent in its entirety. I asked for video so I can watch her day and see what has caused her change in behavior. My dogs demeanor towards other dogs has changed since her daycare visit. My girl is a rough player but that kind of play should not be permitted, causing injury. When she returned my call she said it was "mutual rough play". When I called to ask what had happened the person we spoke to said they would review video. When we picked up our puppy she had 20+ puncture wounds on her body. Since K9 has fairly good reviews we decided to give them another chance with a day at daycare. When I called about this they made excuses and tried to justify her injuries. She also got kennel cough from her visit. We took her to the vet and had her paw and eye treated. ![]() When we picked her up we noticed her rear paw was torn open and her eye was goopy. We asked to have her supervised closely, she has had major hip and leg reconstruction done prior to us adopting her. ![]() We took our then 8 month old pit for 4 days of boarding. Our first experience with daycare was good. Overall, our dogs clearly had fun as they came back tired but I’m just unsure if we’ll bring them back for another stay. When my significant other picked them up, he noted a farm smell from both dogs who clearly didn’t get a bath with no explanation as to why they didn’t and about 2 days worth of food for each dog when their food was portioned out per day, so I’m not sure what they ate for those 2 days with again, no explanation. ![]() They were great at communicating with me within the first couple days about some GI upset and overall progress but hadn’t heard anything else so assumed everything was going well. During their week-long stay, they were supposed to get a bath the day before we picked them up, which was perfect for us as I was going to be extremely limited in physical movements and unable to help my significant other. “Dogs eating a grain-free diet experiencing symptoms of lethargy, cough or difficulty breathing should be examined by a veterinarian.”īut, Cash was not left to deal with the diagnosis and was given medical attention and “intervention at an optimal time that allowed for diet changes and medication to improve his chances for a full recovery,” the release said during his most recent checkup, CPW added, tests came back positive showing normal heart function. After doing a lot of research and hearing highly from people about K9 Activity Club, I chose to board my dogs there for 1 week because I was having major hip surgery. “Many people have the misperception that food which is good for humans is also good for dogs, but that is not necessarily the case,” Del Nero said in the release. In 2018, the Food and Drug Administration began an investigation to research increased reports of DCM among a wider population of dogs, which ultimately showed that many DCM patients were “consuming non-traditional diets, which caused researchers to study DCM further and its potential link to specific diets and ingredients,” the release said. Bruna Del Nero, a third-year resident in veterinary cardiology, diagnosed Cash with a dilated cardiomyopathy, an illness that causes the heart muscles to weaken that, if untreated, would lead to heart failure and sudden death, according to the release. The release added that CPW has three K9 officers, all of which “help find evidence in poaching cases, assist with bear releases to help relocate them away from populated areas and (have) been able to sniff out endangered species” as well as serving as “teachers, social media influences and (participating) in educational presentations across the state.”ĬPW contacted partners at CSU to seek medical support for Cash and discuss possible care and treatment options to help Cash. ![]() (Pamela Johnson / Reporter-Herald file photo)Ĭash, a K9 officer who has been with CPW for the last seven years, recently experienced some health problems and a “concerning heart murmur,” according to a release from CPW.
